English Version
The "Mercure Budapest Korona Hotel" is a good option to stay in Budapest, Hungary.
Although the hotel is a located a bit away from some of the most touristic attractions of this city ( 20 minutes walking distance from Saint Stephen's Cathedral or 25 minutes from the Chain Bridge ), the hotel can be easily reached from the Listz Ferenc airport. From terminal T2, you can take the 200E bus towards Kobánya-Kispest M ( 20 minutes - 9 stops ). At Kobánya-Kispest, you can take the metro line M3 towards Újpest-Központ M ( 14 minutes – 8 stops ). Kálvin tér stop is just by the hotel.
The hotel consists of 2 buildings located at both sides of Kecskeméti utca street communicated through a skywalk.
The reception and the restaurant are located in the main building. To get access to the rooms located in the other building, you need to take the elevator to the 3rd floor, then you cross the skywalk, and afterwards you take the elevators to the appropriate floor.
The room had a normal size with a queen bed. The floor is on carpet. The room was very clean and the style was modern.
In the room there is a wardrobe where you can place your clothes.
In front of the bed we can find a piece of furniture with a small fridge in it. On top of this piece of furniture there is a small Plasma TV. Besides, there is a small table in the room and on top of it we can find a water-heater to prepare some coffee or tea in the room. WiFi access in the room is free.
Our room has views at the crossing of Kalvin ter, Muzeum krt y Ulloi ut streets. The isolation of the room is not very good so the noise from the street can be heard event till very late in the night.
The bathroom is not too big, but it has a modern style and above all, it is clean.
Regarding the hotel staff, although they are polite, I felt cheated. I stayed in this hotel for work reasons, so my booking was for a double room for individual use with a company rate. In all the years that I have travelled due to my work, when doing the same type of bookings I have never been assigned to a room with a single bed.
When I requested the change of the room the day after, they gave me any type of excuses, but after discussing with a few members from the reception they finally gave me the double room that my booking was for. This situation gave me a bad impression about the staff of the hotel.
The booking included a breakfast buffet service. The breakfast was not too diverse but good enough.
In my opinion, this hotel presents a good price-quality ratio ( Example: 3 nights of a tuesday, wednesday and thursday, end of May 2014 for 197,64€ with a special company rate ).
If I had to stay again in Budapest, I would look for another hotel.
